I really really wanted to like the VCOG. It was amazing in every other way. The reticle was bright. It was built like a tank. The adjustment knob was so smooth. The only thing I can think of is that maybe my units (#502/#519) were early models and had bugs. I know the segmented circle is not as popular as the horseshoe dot. I don't know.

Here is a post from another site (not me)

Does anyone have VCOG? Any reticle pictures of it on #6 into a bright sunlit target area? The only pictures I can find of it do not expound on the illumination setting used.Eyebox impressions?

Sorry it's been a minute since I looked at this thread. I got hands-on with one and think it's a POS and have no interest. I'd get a Z6i or a K16i instead. Even the Razor is a better optic. The VCOG was just pure junk. Very blurry. You focus it on 1X and then turn it to 6X and it gives you a headache with how blurry things get. Focused it on 6X and then on 1X it was a headache. Tried multiple optics. Had other people with me who tried them. The design is just flawed and annoys the hell out of me. My cheap Tasco on the .22 rifle doesn't even have these issues.

That was my experience too. I know FFP scopes are more prone to these types of issues. If I were you, I would try to get my hands on one in person. Focus the diopter for 6X exactly like the manual says and then look at the image and reticle on the other powers. If you order one on line, get an agreement to be able to return it without a restocking fee. I hope they fix it.

I am going to stick with my ACOGs for now. Maybe I will try again when they release a "gen 2" version.

There is more drama in that thread than a high school. Hard to take anything seriously with all that bickering back and forth.

You ain't kidding about that. RCJackrabbit provided the link this morning and it took me all day to read the entire thread. Well I had to do it a little bit at a time. Finally got it done and there were some mixed opinions on the VCOG. Some people swore by it and love it to death. Others had the same opinion that RCjackrabbit has, and think the VCOG is a POS. Leaves me really confused because the opinions are very contradictory.

I actually don't think it is a POS. I was amazed at every single thing about the VCOG. It screamed quality. It screamed durability. I loved the illumination. When focused, the glass was awesome.

It just had a fatal flaw.

For $1750, I can not live with that flaw.

P.S. I noticed the arguing too. I figured that the VCOG is Trijicon. So, maybe the people complaining just got lemons. I figured my luck would be better.

          But, that wasn't the case.
