Scope mount for savage 11 .308

I got a savage model 11 in .308 that i just got a scope for. I have been looking at mounting options and am looking for some input. Bear with me as i am not 100% with terminology . . .

So the receiver already has 2 short sections of rail mounted so you can mount scope rings to the rail. I was thinking either get the blackhawk 6 bolt rings or get a dnz mount. On the dnz mount it says something about 'long action' or 'short action' what is this referring to? Smaller caliber=short action?
I like the idea of a solid 1 peice mount bolting to the receiver, seems much stronger than individual rings. Anyone have experience with these?

Need a little more info first. Does yoru savage have accutrigger? Accutrigger models changed the receiver from a flat back portion to a round portion.

Ok. DNZ mounts are a great way to go. Great quality an dpeople really like them. I have a few myself. You would need a short action model for the accutrigger/round receiver variants. tube diameter and height depend on the scope you choose.

Nothing wrong with sticking to a 2 peiec weaver mount setup, but I would say the DNZ may be a better choice in most situations. I have a Savage with an EQW rail on it that I really like. Allows for the ability to move the scope back and forth as needed for optimal eye relief.
