Thats right. The 3rd place finisher this month in sacto was running a savage in 260. You can never discount those things in the right hands.

Scott at Liberty Optics should be able to get you that price shipped to your door. He's one of the best.

Hey rk. I bought a Remington 700 sps varmint in .308 today. I'm going to take your suggestion with the Bushnell 3200 10x40. Any suggestions on optic ring or mounts? Could you also give me some ideas on good stocks? Any help at all would be appreciated.

Sure thing. Get a seekins 20 MOA base and a cheaper set of 1 inch rings. There isn't much resale involved with one inch rings as most upper end tac scopes are 30mm and larger. I've used weaver quad locks and burris signature zee rings in the past with excellent results, especially for budget rings. As far as a stock is concerned, well, how much do you want to spend? Bell and Carlson has the Medalist and its pretty good for the money. Many guys like the HS stock that comes on the 700p. You can keep an eye on the for sale section here and you may find a take off stock for a good deal. I don't really like the choate offerings, but some do. From there you step up into the great stocks like McMillan, Manners, and Accuracy International. The AI will set you back about 800 bucks now so thats probably out of the question for a while.

If you need any help while getting this all together, feel free to shoot me a pm. Good luck!

Thank you for all the help. I'm sure I'll PM you with a couple questions. Now I just need to figure out how to shoot.

As far as learning how to shoot goes, check out the NCPPRC. They're not too far away from you. They're a great group of guys that shoot a monthly long range match, as well as a steel match. They also hold beginner classes a couple times a year. That'd be the best place to start.

Yeah I think I'm going to need a little help. The furthest I have shot is 500 yards in the Marines.
Another quick question. I'm looking at stock and I see ADL stocks and BDL stocks. Whats that mean?

ADL will have a blind mag. The BDL stock is cutout on the bottom for the floorplate.
