    Burris Mtac scopes?

Tried searching here and other sites, but not coming up with much of anything?

I might be able to get a pretty good deal on a few Burris Mtac scopes. I am looking at either the 3.5-10x42 or the 4.5-14x42. Has anyone here had any real experience with either? It will be used on a Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD in .308, that will be mostly a range with a little hog hunting thrown in.

Good? Bad? Any others I should be looking at for the same price? (looking at $370 and $450 OTD, respectively).

    Thanks!

Any help guys? Are these scopes any good? I can't seem to solid info on these. Would I just be better of going with more of a known model. This is my first bolt action to play with. It will mostly be a range/desert toy that might see little hunting action, but that is secondary.

Sorry can't give you any info on those two. I can tell you I have two burris mtac 1-4x and I felt that they were a very good value for the money. Absolutely no complaints. I know its not what you asked but my experience with the product line is a great one, and I've never used it but I've heard burris' warranty and CS is excellent.

          3.5-10 x 42 review :
Well, I finally got my scope on my rifle and had a chance to run it through the paces with about 150rds of ammo. Here it is: I am writing this review of the following scope because when I tried to research it on the internet, I found it hardly had any reviews. I am hoping this review will...

Have the mtac 1-4x24. Works great

Thanks drh777, That first link I had not seen before. Reviews of these scopes have been pretty slim, so that was a good read. I think I'm going to go for it on an Mtac, just got to decide if there is any reason to not go with the 4.5-14 over the 3.5-10?

Alright, I pulled the trigger on the 4.5-14x42 Mtac and a set of TPS mounts and base. I will try to remember to give an update once they are mounted and put through their paces.

                  Thanks again for the help!

Okay, so I thought I would update this thread, since too many "what should I buy" threads never have an ending.

I finally got out the the range this weekend. First off, Sac Valley Shooting Center is so much nicer than places I have gone in the past, I will definitely be going back.

So I mounted and sighted in the Burris Mtac. The scope is very clear, adjusted well, made a perfect box and returned to zero.

For a complete rookie on a 308 bolt action, and mil-mil scopes, I had a blast. Between the Rem 700 sps aac-sd and the Burris Mtac, the combo made me look really good. Considering I was using some "cheaper" Federal Fusion and Fiocchi ammo (my ammo order didn't show up in time), I was repeatable getting consistent 1 moa or less groups without too much effort. I can only imagine what this package will do with lots more practice time and higher grade ammo. I really think it is a great package for someone like me just starting out and looking to have some fun without too much of an investment.

Now I'm ready to move out to further targets.
