Aimpoint PRO on M1A Scout Squad

Is anyone out there running or have previously run an Aimpoint PRO on an M1A Scout? I'm leaning toward buying one for my M1A, but wanted to hear about others experiences or stories, good or bad. My concerns are holding zero and heat transfer, being that it will be a forward mounted optic in this rifle. Also, any recommendations on a top notch 30mm low profile ring/mount? It'll be mounted directly to a Scout Handguard or Fulton Armory rail system, to get as low as possible to receiver height and co-witness my irons. Thanks!

A good side mount will work fine, Springfield , Basset , etc... You could also put an Ultimak rail on the front, they are rock solid.Have a real scout set up.

I have one on my Socom 16 and have not had any issues with it.

I have one on my scout squad, mounted in the factory rail and no issues with heat and certainly no issues with holding zero. It's a really solid addition to the rifle. Sits high to effectively cowitness, but I'm honestly not sure why that seems to be all the rage anyway. The bullet just goes where the red dot is every time I pull the trigger even after being knocked around a bit on transport.

The night vision mode works really well too if you get the chance to wear some goggles.

Is it also on the Aimpoint factory mount? If so, do you use a cheek riser to get a proper weld? I was going with the lower aftermarket rail and mount to avoid having to add a riser. Also, I've grown accustomed to co-witnessing my irons with my AR's. Red dot alone is fine, but when I co-witness I get much more precise shot placement, granted that my irons are properly zeroed.

I have a c3 mounted on a socom II. Using factory low rings it's mounted very low. It almost touches the rail. But there is no possible way you could co-witness through the scope.

I could use a higher mount and co-witness under the scope, but that would ruin my cheek weld which is good now using no cheek pad.

I have a scout scope on my scout. Using the lowest rings I feel like a cheek pad is needed. The irons are not usable with this set up.

I just don't think you can mount anything low enough on an m1a to co-witness.

            My 2 cents.

I'd have to echo the sentiments of the poster above me on the unlikelihood of being able to cowitness the M1A in any configuration, granted I've heard people claim they can do it with the Ultimak (I believe that's what it's called) rail.

To answer your question though, my PRO is indeed on the factory Aimpoint mount (minus the riser piece that it ships with) and my rifle could definitely benefit from slapping a cheek riser on it for proper weld, but it's still 100% accurate and shootable without one.

All that being said, this rifle just isn't made for cowitnessing anything if you were to ask me, with red dots working so incredibly well on them just being kind of an anomaly.

I have an ultimak with the aimpoint with low rings and it is a 1/3 co-witness (on socom 16) I run the vx3 scout scope mount on the scout with QD rings. It is fine with factory stock. However I do not like the ultimak or scout scope with VLTOR stock but standard optics mount works well with the VLTOR stock.

The only set up I've seen that seem to be even close to absolute co-witness was an Ultimak scout rail and Aimpoint T1 micro. I'd rather have the larger 30mm objective with an Aimpoint PRO, which likely wouldn't achieve that. But if I can get it as low as possible without needing a cheek riser, I'd be happy.
