Right scope for 7mm under $500

I bought a simple remington 700 sps 7mm rem mag rifle not to long ago and I would like suggestions on a score under $500.

I would like to have have a mildot reticle.

well, for mildot, I think SWFA has options that I misliked because I like MOA reticles for target.

For hunting AND target, IMO your sweetspot is 3-9 power, or even better, 2.5-10x. Cranked down to hunt, cranked up for target. I like Vortex offerings for 2.5-10's, but the PST is out of your price range, or at the tippy tippy top. Check out Vortex HS line. might have something with the right reticle, not 100% sure.

I DO know that 4-12 or 4-14 is more magnification than I want while hunting, and I do know that 9x is plenty for me for target.

So, for my dollar, and for having 500 of them, I'd be looking at Vortex Viper PST (used), or I'd consider an SWFA offering, see how I liked them.

No bigger than a 40mm objective for hunting unless I had no choice (for vortex scopes sub-500, I think you are stuck with 44mm... it's really too big, but okay....)

      check this guy out:

count on street price being $100 less than prices quoted on the website. The perfect option for you is the vortex viper PST 2.5-10x32ffp, but it's $800 so....

This isn't a bad second fiddle if you like the reticle.

      their MOA reticle was awesome.

edit: shoot, I'm sorry there's no mildot. the BDC is in MOA not mils. Sorry. I still think vortex will have an offering for you that will outpace the competition for glass quality at the $500 price point.

Please take a look at a Redfield Made in USA Scope
              They use Leopold Glass

Keep in mind most hunting is done under 200yds. Now the majority of rifles these days do not have iron sights. You may want a scope with a starting power of 2x or less for the occasional shot under 25yds.

I got the Leupold VX-R 2-7x33 for under $500 around Christmas time.
Redfields are good also. Like stated above, American made with lifetime warranty.
