Have you installed a mount? Most of the side mounts on an AK style rifle will block the factory iron sight before even adding an optic. There may be one out there, but AKs and red dots usually don't mix. AKs aren't very tacticool. -
get a PK-01V. co witnesses and is very low on the receiver..around 300 bucks..I have two and love them.

Trigger conversion..I'm using an ultimak mount on my converted Saiga. Bad pic but this more or less:
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..
I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".Comment

I have two PK-A Venezuelan red dots on AK's... The best thing since sliced bread.

They mount low, and give a 1/3 co-witness... 3,600 hour battery life, and they are centered in line over the bore...
More info here with pic's!!!

I have recently gone through a little debacle with finding a mount and RDS combo I could co-witness with my irons on a Saiga .223. First off, no matter how low the mount, the Vortex SPARC will not co-witness. The LED emitter is at 6:00, thus blocking the irons. Most I've seen use an Ultimak and Aimpoint Micro combination. After researching the crap out of the possible solutions, I decided on setting aside the Midwest Industries Side Rail and trying out the Attero Arms mount with a PA Micro Dot. Other solutions include mounts from Ultimak (works with most RDS), Midwest Industries (no co-witness with SPARC, okay co-witness with Primary Arms), RS (don't know too much about it), Kalinka (mostly good co-witnes from what I've read, but may be optic specific), Strike Industries (not much heard about their mounts), Attero Arms (will test and report), Texas Weapon Systems (good, but expensive), Krebs (expensive, but good), and Damage Industries (same as Strike Industries; not much heard). I think that covers it.
Lastly, I also recall that a 30mm red dot on the Midwest Industries 30mm side mount works, but only read that in one or two places. No promises.RIA 1911 Tactical .45 ACP
