True story. Always tends to hurt the wallet in the aftermath as well. This year may determine a post SHOT Blaser purchase...

Well I did it. No clue if it is truly level or not as my swivel bipod would not stay locked. Thanks for all the tips.

        this: http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.co...reticle-system

        this: http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.co...uct=fat-wrench

        and this: http://www.ctkprecision.com/gunvise.aspx

have been great for me... of course you can find each cheaper than MSRP linked...

the CTK vise is awesome - but there are of course other options... but a stationary, secure vise is a must (don't use a cleaning cradle - been there done that)...

BTW, I wouldn't suggest the purchases for one gun... but if you don't already have multiple, you will

Trust me its the ACSS way or right way to do it.

and you think a telephone pole edge is level?

this is a critical consideration - that until recently, I didn't acknowledge...

Over the holidays I visited family in mid-west and went hunting with my cousin... he's left handed and was showing me a new scope he mounted... shouldering the rifle, the reticle was obviously canted (for me)... I mentioned it to him - and told him to take a look... he shouldered it and said it looked straight to him.

Bench rest, precision shooting will be different than off hand for sure.

Its an example but the bottom line is you level the crosshair not the scope body. You can say what ever you want but thats how its done.

get 2 levels. one level on your UR to level the rifle, and one on top of your scope elevation to level the scope

It's been pretty new for me, but has really worked well. Hard part is keeping that rifle setup for shouldering and not using it at a bench or precision. I just remounted a 1895 guide gun in the same manner and noticed a huge comfort level increase when trying to aquire and shoot quickly. To each, his own.
