    Identifying Oddball Tapped Reciever

I have been given my grandfather's old 1917 Enfield. It has been sporterized long ago, getting a new stock, shorter barrel, new ironsights, and being tapped for a scope.

I really want to mount a scope on this rifle. Since it has already been tapped for a scope, I was hoping that I can use the existing holes to put a new scope on. The only problem is that I have no idea where to get a mount that fits what is already there. I took the rifle to my local gunsmith to see if he could find a mount, but he could not. The local gun store has a large selection of mounts, but I was unable to find the correct one in the short time that I looked.

I have posed pictures of the receiver in question, as well as more detailed pictures of the parts behind and in front of the bolt. I am hoping that someone here will recognize the tapped receiver and point out where I can get my hands on one. If not, I am just hoping someone can just point me in the right direction.

Use two piece mounts. Just measure the distance between both front holes and then the back holes.

If I do find a two piece mount that has the holes correctly spaced, how do I get the correct sized screws?

A Leupold two peice might fit. Go to a well stocked gun store and try all of the two peice mounts they have. The screws that come with the mount would probably fit. Or get a thread checker, pull out one of the plug screws and check it.

Never mind, didn't see the plugs.
