    Vortex Scopes, Any Good?

Vortex scopes, are they any good? I'm looking to mount a scope on a .308win.

I heard they have awesome "VIP" warranty.

    Any input?
    Thank You,

Vortex makes good stuff but keep in mind that every scope maker has product tiers. Vortex's Crossfire is their economy product line, the Diamondback series is their mid-level line, Viper is their premium product line, and Razor is their super premium line.

Yep. But I've only used their PST line. For all I know, crossfire is crap.

PST is GTG. I like 2.5x for hunting.

I was in a similar search for a new scope recently.

        see my poll here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=858913

        After some some advice from fellow CGer's ( ^ including sholling ^ ) I went with a
        Vortex Viper 4-12x40PA BDC Scope

And I am impressed! Glass is top notch! Came with see through lens caps, side PA, zero resettable turrets, scope cover and that "VIP" warranty that is awesome!

Go Vortex, Viper if you can, and don't look back! (Diamondback is also great if that is all your budget allows)

I recently got a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x for my .308 AR and I love it. The glass is really excellent... very bright and clear.

I have a crossfire II on my 10-22, fantastic scope for the money. Bright, clear optics.

^pretty much this. They make a ton of stuff. It ranges from not being mount worth to quite good. So, you have to narrow it down a little.

My experience with my PST 4-16x50 SFP is positive. Adjustments are solid and consistent. Glass is good enough to easily see .223 holes on dark targets at 100 yards on a hazy winter morning, but not good enough to see .223 holes on dark targets at 200 yards. I really like the reticle, but haven't used the holdovers much.

I have only heard that Vortex has an awesome warranty and customer service because I haven't had to use it.

Get Birchwood-Casey "Dirty Bird" targets and you'll see those holes at 200.

For their price point, the quality is exceptional.

Are there better scopes ? yes.

I recently got a PST 6-24X50 SFP and was extremely happy with the glass.

I have a Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP, and I've been very pleased with it.

Close friend has a Vortex Razor that I'm going to steal when he's not looking.

And yes, if you ever need to use the warranty, you're going to be pleasantly surprised by the level of service Vortex provides. Good folks there in Wisconsin.

you suck. I bought a 2.5-10x44 then the NEXT year they come out with that. Sold the scope. Probably would have kept it were it a 32.

Even worse that you confirm it is in fact an awesome scope.

I have the vortex SPARC red dot and it comes with a 3x attachment and I love it. Very shock resistant and durable, and it was at zero when I attached it to my AR.

I really wish the blobby part hanging off the left side wasn't there. Other dot makers make do without.

But something that is ultra-dot sized with included 3x magnifier that didn't need rings would be really handy for handgun hunting and load development.
