Are you setting the SOCOM up with a "scout" type scope? Forward mounted for both eye open shooting?

The Nikon pistol scope has an eye relief of 9.7" to 22.4 inches. The Leupold Scout Scope has an eye relife of 9.3" so in theory you shouldnt have an issue.

The parallax on the Nikon scope is 100 yards. You may want to try to zero it @ 100 yards instead of 25.

How are you zeroing your scope?

A picture of the setup might help.

It's not uncommon to shim the rings or bases. I've used Burris Signature Zee rings with the plastic inserts and I've shimmed bases and I've had to do both on some rifles. (Old Mausers and other mil surplus rifles). The Burris rings come in Weaver-style. I suspect your Ultimak rail has room for shimming. Or use the
      Burris rings.
You need too raise the front of the scope. And your pistol scope should work fine.
