The SWFA 3-9 is simply awesome for the price.

Isn't the VX-R Patrol 3-9 like the same exact price as the SWFA...?

It would really help to link the exact products you are looking at...

HK Daves recommendation is also solid... I understand the 3-9x version of that SWFA scope is built on the same framework as their HD series scope...

The firedot scope does look good, but I haven't personally used them.

        They are nice.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

            Here is something worth reading...

The VX-R is SFP and the SWFA is FFP, VX-R has illumination, and SWFA doesn’t. Both have fixed parallax… Between the two it’s really going to come down to personal preferences and features which are more important to you.

If illumination carried little weight on decision, the SWFA scope would be my pick since I like FFP optics. Seems fitting for an AR10 where you might want to dial back magnification and use holds instead of dialing correction.

Considering its price point, there are other options I would consider… Side parallax is important to me, and I would look at optics like the Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 if I wanted something a little smaller more compact for an AR-10 or even the Bushnell 3-12x44 Elite Tactical with the G2DMR reticle.

I don't know how you have your AR10 setup, but if this is more of a bench setup… then you can open a lot of options stepping into the 50mm objective area.
