broken accupoint reticle?

i purchased a trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 amber mil dot scope. i noticed when outside i see what appears to be little shards of glass on the vertical portion of the crosshairs just where it transitions from solid to the mil dot.
is this normal?

Yep, seen that before, it's broken. Call Trijicon.
