    suggestions for my old eyes

    Good afternoon, my friends..

I have a Vortex Strikefire that I use on my AR's. I also use the 2x magnifier that came with it. The front post is really blurry and out of focus for me. Would a stronger magnifier make it clearer? I've tried using my reading glasses but they don't help. I've never been a, optics guy.

I'm ok at seeing things at a distance but up close is tough.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Try our 3x magnifier. The Strikefire is a great dot but the magnifier supplied is hard to see even for me and I have great vision.

get an Eotech or a Aimpoint. Good high quality optics. Take it from a guy with bad vision, with optics you get what you pay for.

The strike fire is a good optic. I have some screwed up young eyes but I can see them clearly. I would recommend you to take off the magnifier to see if the picture improves. It would help you determine whether the optic is bad or the magnifier is bad.

My grandfather has the same issue as you, I'd try out a diopiter like this one it works great!

no, a magnifier will make the front sight post less visible - it is magnifying the distance so you are actually looking past the sight...

when using your red dot, there really is no need to see the front sight (but some people like to co-witness the dot with the front sight)...

as to using your front sight in general (no optic), as long as you are able to get proper sight alignment, the clarity isn't critical... but I can see (no pun intended) how it would be hard to get used to.

              - Aimpoint anything with 2moa dot.
              - Up-tp-date bifocals.

When's the last time you visited your ophthalmologist?

                Or, have you ever??

I'd start with your eyes and see what's going or not going on.

You'll save $$$ in the long run, not to mention improving your life in everything, not only shooting.

I went to my eye doctor and had her make me a pair of shooting glasses with a slight change to my prescription to change my focus point out so I could see
the front and rear sights. BTW, I use iron sights as well as scoped firearms.

You might want to get the old eyes checked again....

If you can see the red dot and the target good, the front site has no legit purpose.

Peep style sites are a good way to up precision without optics.

Best thing that happened to me lately was that my Docs found that I had beginning cataracts in each eye. I have been near sighted since I was 13 and it had gotten progressively worse over the years. I had the surgery, each done two weeks apart and they corrected for my being near sighted and for a slight astigmatism in one eye only. Last eye was done 3 weeks ago. Now I have 20-15 vision in each eye but I need reading glasses which I knew I would need before I had the surgery. I'll hit the range this weekend to see how my new eyes work there.
