    Optics with glasses

I did a search but didn't find info I was looking for... so here goes!

I am searching for a scope for my first Weatherby Vanguard 30-06. I intend to hunt Elk, deer etc. I am not planning on spending +$500 on an occasional optic.

I am considering a Viper Crossfire II 3x9x40, or a Leupold VX-2 3X9X40, or a Bushnell Ultra Legend HD ... but those are just my starting points.

I am concerned with adapting to viewing the scope with glasses. What lessons can bestowed on me regarding best viewing scopes with glasses. Also any input on sun shades or other accessories that may be helpful is welcomed!

    Thank in advance!

I do not have problems with prescription glasses or contact lenses with sunglasses. Worst thing I could think of is "scope eye" with your glasses, but you should be ~3" away anyways; that's just bad form then anything.

I shoot a 12ga shotgun with glasses.. I use a Nikon scope with 5 inches of eye relief.. Subtract the glasses and I get 4 inches of eye relief.

It's not different at all compared to using safety glasses that have no prescription. Put your glasses on, focus the eyepiece correctly(which you should do even without prescription glasses anyway), go shoot like normal.

Same here, wear prescription glasses & shoot like normal.

I wear glasses and all my hunting rifles wear Leupold 3X9X40 or 3.5X10X40 scopes. They all take game fine.
I only use Leupold scopes on my hunting/serious rifles and pistols except my 50BMG rifles that have Nightforce NXS on them.

Buy the Leupold and never look back.

Do yourself a favor and be sure to buy glasses that have large lenses that sit up high on your eyes so when you shoulder the rifle you are not looking over the lens instead of thru it.

Also use low rings with the Leupold 3X9X40 and forget flip-up caps(they will cost you an animal sooner or later) or even the sunshade. Get the duplex reticle and sight it in 2.75" high at 100 yards and you are good to go. Aim on the animal at any sane range and you will mave meat in the freezer. Keep it simple and you are better off. I have a Vanguard 257Weatherby and have taken pronghorns with it at over 500 yards set up like this. If you are concerned about dust on the lenses get a scope pen.

A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
