Help with Variable Optic: Leupold VX-6

I've been going back and forth between the Leupold VX-6 1-6x and the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 1-6 with the Leupold being my first choice due to cost and weight.

I need help picking the right reticle. The VX-6 is available in the following:
FireDot Duplex, FireDot Circle, Ballistic FireDot, FireDot LR Duplex, FireDot 4, FireDot Pig Plex, FireDot TMR and FireDot SPR.

I'm not doing any 3 gun for the foreseeable future and will mostly be for range/class/HD use. The versatility of these variables optics have piqued my interest and would like to add one to a future AR build. I don't have much experience with long range shooting so I don't really need the complicated reticles for 600yd targets, etc. So basically any reticle will do for my intended uses? No need to pay extra $$$ for the SPR reticle?

    Any suggestions,opinions,tips are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Any suggestions which illuminated reticle will best serve a newb like me? The VX-6 has many different reticles to choose from. or just fork up the cash and get the Razor HD Gen 2?

For you, it sounds like you like to keep it simple. Get a simple reticle and keep it simple. The duplex, circle and pig plex are pretty simple, so stick with one of those. You can't go wrong with leupold. And they can change the reticle in your scope later for a small fee.

Leupold with the firedot Duplex and be done with it. Simple to choose and use.

Thanks for the advice fellas, looks like the firedot duplex is for me. I also like the option of changing the reticle in the future.
