Vortex 6.5-20x44 Good For M1A?

Looking to scope my M1A Loaded (22" match barrel)

I was looking at a Vortex 6.5-20x44. Great reviews.

I may add the scope to bolt gun down the road if I really get into long distance shooting.

Thoughts on the scope?

Vortex makes great products. Just mounted a new Viper HS-T on a 300 WM build of mine. Nice glass with reliable and repeatable turrets on the Viper line. I think you'll be quite happy with it.

I have the Vortex Viper PST 6-24 in FFP on my .308 AR and it's a great scope. They make good glass and their no questions asked warranty is the best in the business.

As always, get the best glass you can afford. Not sure how much that one costs, but you may want to also consider an SWFA 5-20. I have one of these and the glass is noticably clearer than the Vortex. Not dramatically so, but definitely brighter and more clear, particularly at high magnification. Little less fussy on the eye relief too.

You can often find these for $1000 used. I think there's one for sale right now in the classifieds.

Just an FYI that M1A's are hard to scope due to lack of cheek weld, you also want to get a good mount (like a Sadlak).
