I am looking to put a decent scope around $200 for plinking and possible varmint hunting on a single shot 223. I was looking at the P223 Nikons but didn't know if those were only suited to AR platforms. Ideas and suggestions please.

Weaver has a couple rather highly regarded target/varmint scopes for about that coin. Mueller is another (maybe same company).
Check out Mueller APV. I've heard good things about it re: value. Could be into it with decent base and rings for just about your target price.Last edited by JagerDog; 09-25-2013, 3:46 PM.Palestine is a fake country

Try out the Redfield Battlezone 3-9x it comes with a .223 calibrated dial...Well, sort of, but excellent for plinking...Otherwise a Leupold VX-1 3-9x would be a great choice as well, light weight too...Redfield Revenge 3-9x is another great option...sigpicComment

The Mueller APV 4.5-14x40 (~$130) is rated for up to .223 (max) and has decent glass. A nice step up would be a Weaver Classic V10 2-10x38 at $190. Somewhere in between (optically) is Nikon's Prostaff 4-12x40 for $190 or so."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--
