Differences between 30 mm mounted vs micro reddot?

    Hey guys,

I dont know much about the differences between types of reddots.. but whats the difference in POU, advantages/disadvantages...etc

    a) 30 mm reddot like this:

The Primary Arms red dot catalog is here. With options like the Primary Arms SLx and Primary Arms Classic series, you'll be sure to find the best red dot for you.

    b) a micro reddot like this:

Sorry if this is a noob question or if I m getting the terminology wrong

Also what do you guys think of these primary arms products above? I just ordered the 30 mm reddot above with a 6x magnifier... I dont have any optics on any of my guns yet, I just got into guns a little under 2 years ago..

Sorry another question... PA has both of these two 30 mm optics set at the same price:

      a) https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-...mm-red-dot.htm

      b) https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-...a30crgenii.htm

the second one is "gen 2" but priced the same as gen one... I dont know much about optics but why are they priced the same? Arent gen 2 products usually improved a bit and priced a bit higher? I dont know enough about optics to really understand the specs... could some one please help

Having never used either of those optics, I would reach out to the manufacture/distributor with your questions. Having been in the guns game for a little while, I am always hesitant with inexpensive optics like the ones you linked. There is a reason that eotech is 5X the price and sell circles around these optics.

At first I thought you were talking "primary weapons" so I will leave you this

For a primary weapon i think I would go with an eotech... but I cant put one of those on every weapon I have... I ve heard good things about primary arms, so I was thinking about put them on a few of my ARs and AKs that may not be "primary firearms"

Main difference is size and weight....

I own both larger version and the micro... both good optics for the price.

Pick the form factor you prefer... My micro gets more use due to its size, mine is on a 10/22 rifle.
