Best Scope for my new DPMS LR308 24"

New to long range shooting. Just got my first 308 rifle. Went with a DPMS LR308 24" rifle. Looking at buying a Vortex PST 4-16x50 scope. My budget is around $700. Any recommendations?

I have the same rifle, and also chose the PST 4-16x50 ffp. I think I paid about $800 for the scope. The ffp is a bit more money than sfp. Just recently got the scope and havent shot it yet, so can't give you a performance review. The research I did says you can't beat that scope for the money.

I was about to buy the sfp since I exhausted my gun money. I'll probably put my redfield 3-9x for now until I save up $200 more so I can get the ffp. The ffp would work for me since I'm looking for tactical shooting.

Ffp is the way to go IMO.

Maybe look into Leupold CDS scopes, they can be had in your budget and are incredible. I have a 4.5x14 on my .300 win mag and love it. Its zeroed at 100yds and the turret will go out to 650 yds zero.

I also have the CDS on a ar-10 .308 in 2x7, cant wait to smoke swine with that. That one is zeroed at 100yds and goes to about 4 hundred yard zero.

I went with Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20X50. Great glass. I think better than Nightforce for a fraction of the cost. Getting a custom turret from Kenton once everything is settled in. Thanks for all your recommendations.
