Thoughts on two different crimson trace models

    Hey all,

I want to put a Crimson Trace on my Glock 22 (and, eventually, my 27). I noticed there were two different models, the LG-417 and the LG-617. I am soliciting opinions on which is better and why.

The 417 looks to be middle finger activated, while the 617 looks to be activated by pressure on the backstrap.

Thanks in advance for any information.

I like front activation, as you can activate the laser with your finger.

Because the LG-617 has rear activation when you hold the pistol you naturally will activate the laser.

Imagine waking in your home at 3 AM and walking downstairs to investigate what went bump in the night - do you want that laser to be on while walking down the stairs?

My only concern with the 417 is that I have also considered putting the pressure switch battery door on my TLR-1s, and I dont think that they can occupy the same space.

Also, if it matters, this is a duty gun (with the 27 being a backup).

well, I found out something interesting today. The Gen 4's only have one model that fit....the LG-850 (mimics the 617). So, I guess that decision is made for me.

        Thanks.
