    Weaver Kaspa or Millett?

Hey guys, I cant make up my mind and really could use some opinions. I have on order a Weaver Kaspa 3-12 tactical and a Millett 4-16 trs. I can only keep one. I know they are both lower end Chinese scopes but with a $100 difference I would like to keep the better of the two. All of the forums I have been on either love or hate both scopes. One forumsays they're great the other forum says they stink. Any real users from Calguns? Thanks.

i used a millett 4-16trs for a couple years, then i went out on a limb and got a SWFA SS 10x for 300$. The difference is night and day. I can shoot farther with the 10x because it is clear. I say return them both and get the SWFA for about the same price. if youre hunting with the scope the lower magnification is useful if not just go for the straight 10x. just my 2 cents.

One company is a maker of high quality optics with a great reputation that supplements their catalog with an affordable, lower quality line with some desirable features. The other company is Millett.

Both will leave you wanting to upgrade sooner or later. What kind of shooting are you planning to do? Maybe folks here(like DelDanko) can help point you towards something that you'll be happier with for a long time.

Thanks for the replies. Target shooting mostly, with a .308. Hoping to take it out to 600ish yds.

I’ve never tried the Weaver so I can’t comment on it.

I did have a Millet 4-16 and it was my first target scope. I liked mine enough that I recommended it to a friend, and his had a couple of QC issues. I suspect quality control from unit to unit is a bit spotty, but I did have good luck with it. With that said, I grew out of that scope pretty quick, and upgraded.

If you do get one, make sure you get matching turrets/reticle. I made the mistake of getting one in MOA/MIL and at the time didn’t know any better. If I got one in MIL/MIL I would probably still own it, and it would be sitting on a rimfire rifle since the parallax went down to 25 yards. Being hit or miss on quality, I don’t think I would buy another.

Vortex PST scopes are pretty much my go-to when I want a mix of affordability, features, quality, and tracking…

SWFA made me a believer after I got a couple of their HD scopes… I haven’t tried their $300 fixed 10x or 16x scopes, but I wouldn’t hesitate buying one. If you can get over the need for a variable power optic, I would go with DelDankos recommendation if you need to shop on a strict budget.

I have several Millet scopes on several different rifles.
I have no complaints on any of them.
If I was a professional Sniper I might opt for a more expensive optic, but as a casual shooter I do like the Millet.
I seem to hit what I shoot at if I do my part.

i have shot both of my millet 4-16x and SWFA 10x at 600 and i promise you that the swfa will be easier to shoot to 600. Field of view is huge and picture is amazing. fixed 10x power scopes are all you need for target out to 1000. I gave away my millet because it became useless after looking through the 10x SWFA super sniper. It will spoil you for a fraction of the price. Also depending on your budget i got the cheap one without the side parallax. in mil/mil. my recommendations also. unless you can find a cheap moa/moa scope the mil/mil combo is better. once you learn it you will love it.

I think DelDanko has it pretty spot on with the SWFA fixed 10 for your stated purpose. Sounds like the perfect no nonsense option.
