Scope Newb - Plz help

Hey guys, looking to get a scope but need some help. What power would be reccomended for 50 yards and below? What about 100 yards and below? Is there a way to get a scope for both uses?

What does MOA mean?

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you want to shoot small groups on paper at 100 yards, you'll want around 9x-14x range magnification, and a typical 3-9x or 4-14x scope covers a wide range with no problems. Either would work fine closer in, but at really close ranges, will be slow.

If you want something fast that work up really close too, a 1-4x will better, but it's a lot harder to do small groups at 4x (at least for me).

Laser bore sighters are OK, but have limits. If you're mounting on an AR or any rifle you can see through the barrel from the bolt end, you can boresight without buying any extra gear by sighting on something down the barrel and adjusting the scope to the same point.

If you specify your budget range, we can come up with some suggestions.
