scout scope-help

My son is right handed but lost his right eye as a child. He has tried to shoot left handed but he has not been able to get comfortable with this, Is a scout scope a two eyed scope? What do you guys and gals think about this application.We have an Idaho deer hunting trip coming up and he shoots a Right handed 3006 bolt gun.-thanks

From the sound of it a scout scope would be too helpful.

Perhaps an arrangement like this:

Yes a scout scope is meant to be shot both eyes open. The problem is you'd have to mount it in front of the action b4 your trip. Also scout scopes are usually fixed 2.5x which may or may not work for you

Kinda running out of time for a quick fix.

I'm not sure a scout-scope will work well, the eye still needs to be lined up behind the scope, not slightly to the side.

Another option is to remove most of the comb on the stock, so that the face can move farther to the right than is normal. Combined with slightly pivoting the head, you end up with a right-handed rifle fired from the right shoulder, with a scope mounted normally, yet use your left eye.

Even with 1" PLUS (high) rings he may not get a centered view of the cross hairs with a scout scope.

I have one on a Ruger Gunsite Scout and have difficulties using my left eye while shooting right handed.


But it does work.

He has to get up on the rifle and tilt his head until his eye is over the scope. We use this technique with cross eye dominant shooters. It works well but takes getting used to. It's not a quick fix. And as always, it takes TITS: time in training. Lol
