    A stupid question

I see some guys at the range with these clip on " eye loupes" that swivel down from their shooting glasses, for old guys like me with bad eye sight. What exactly are they called and where can i get them?

Depends on what you're talking about. Could be a blinder for the non-shooting eye, could be an iris over their shooting eye(reduces light transmission, increases depth of field). Might have even been a filter, or a lens with a minor amount of magnification.

      I'm thinking it's for magnification?
With my vision, I could use help focusing on the front sight

If it was a clear lens, might have been a filter(slight shade, polarization) or magnification.

If it was something like these

It would be for better depth of field(helps with poor eyesight and focusing on objects). Browse here for a buttload of shooting glasses accessories: http://www.champchoice.com/cat-Shoot...asses-327.aspx Some have descriptions, some don't. You may find what you saw and get a better idea of what it might have been used for.

edit: It's also not really a dumb question. That stuff isn't particularly common at public shooting ranges on normal days.

Are you talking about a round metal thing with a small hole in it? If so, they work great. I have a few but, I don't know where to get more because, I've never looked for them.
