is this combo ok?

im new to optics


i have a Remington 700 AAC-SD 308, the barrel is thick

im planning to buy the following scope, base and rings

1. Leupold VX-3L 6.5-20x56 Long Range Target Riflescope, Extreme Varmint, Varmint Hunters Reticle

2.
Leupold Mark 4 One Piece Mount, 700 Remington SA Long Range, Matte Black - 59235
Gun Model: Remington 700 Short Action

3. NEW Leupold Mark 4 Riflescope Rings, 30mm Diameter, Medium, Matte Black, Steel 61049,Tube Diameter: 30 mm, Fabric/Material: Steel, Ring Height: Medium

the scope's tube size is 1.18 inch, which is 29.97mm

Can prolly get away with low rings on the VX-L. Supposedly mounts same height at 36mm objective. You really wanna pay extra for red blood splatter? I prefer 2 piece mounts on bolt guns, but to each his own.

I was trying to talk myself into that scope (sans the extreme varmint blood splatter), but decided I couldn't really justify $1200 of glass on a varmint gun.
