    Lapping rings?

I know you might need to lap a UTG or B Square ring. But how about a GGG or Burris REPR. Just want to minimize the ring mark or stress the tube.

Get Burris Signature rings and never fear.

IMHO lapping rings is only for when you have a significant alignment issue such as holes off axis or shimming mounts to obtain more elevation adjustment.

What rifle? Sometimes the scope base needs to be bedded to the action. If the base is not flat it can cause alignment issues with the rings.

I have some harris assignment bars you can have for shipping. It's the ones that are pointy. At the very least you can see if you even need to lap.

You dont need to lap 1 piece mounts like DNZ or P.E.P.R. mounts or Burris Signature rings - everything else I lap.

If you want to minimize the marks on the tube or the potential stress then the best way is to bed the base and lap the rings, no doubt about it. That being said I did not bed the base or lap the rings on my R700 and I have had zero issues.

Does it have to be done....No

Can you do it fairly easily....Yes

Will it make you feel better....? If yes then do it, if no then don't worry about it.

One way to minimize marks on the scope is to apply rubber cement on the rings. Some rings come with a buffer, such as a foam sticker already.

it wont do him any good unless you also sell him the rail or receiver they were mounted on. If his rail or receiver mounts the rings off center then your lapping will still be off.

Lapping is only good for the rifle its done on.

I believe he was offering to sell him the kit to be able to lap his rings, not a set of 30mm rings pre lapped.
