    Armalite AR10 scopt

Was hoping someone could make a good recommendation for a 600-800 yard scope able to withstand the kick of a 308. I am thinking of the Leupold Mark AR 4-12X40. It is only a 16" barrel so I don't think I need to spend what it costs to get out to 1000.

thank you in advance for any help.

The Leupold Mark AR is a quality scope. I believe each model currently comes with a generic .223 and .308 BDC turret. The glass quality is on par with that of the VX2 line. I would also recommend taking a look at Nikon's M308. I have used the BDC model out to 500 yards on 10" steel plates.

I ran a VX III 6.5-20x on my .50bmg rifle for a few years until it was replaced with a Nighforce NXS. It's been on my brother's .308 PSS since.
Never any issue with recoil and the glass is quite nice. I'd bought it used for only 300.00. Eye relief was a bit short for the .50 and that's one of the reasons it was replaced with the NSX that has a bit more.

I currently run a newer MK4 4.5-14x on my own Rem700 .308 bolt action and it works well at the ranges you describe. It cost me 800.00 a few years ago.

Between the two, I'd still go with a used VX-III on a .308.
