How old is the Streamlight TLR-2?

I am very interested in getting a Streamlight TLR-2, and was wondering if there is going to be any highly anticipated releases of any products similar to this...I hate buying something, and something newer and better comes out right afterwards.

Has this been on the market for quite awhile?

Couple years old. It's the first good weapon light from Insight, IMO. I went through three M3's on my M9 in Iraq all because they weren't durable. The TLR-2 is quite rugged and a good alternative to the Surefire X200(300).

So, the Streamlight TLR-2 is made by insight? Is that the subsidiary company that actually manufacturers them, or did I just misunderstand what you were saying? Thanks

I have the TLR-1 and I wish I got the TLR-2. These lights are small very bright, and the cool thing is you can mount the on a hand gun if need be also. Great choice. I take it with me on night walks.

As far as I know, Insight and Streamlight are the same company. I think Streamlight is just the brand, but I could be wrong.

Yeah...I think it's something like that. Someone else mentioned something similar to this, but no one could confirm for sure. Thanks

I have a TLR-2. I love it, but I have had repeat problems with the laser not working. I did send it back once to them and they fixed it no charge even though I could not find my receipt. I provided a letter exeplaining the problem and approximately when I bought it, though, and under what conditions it had been used up to then.

I pulled it out recently, never having used it since it came back, and it is doing the same thing. I plan to send it back again. I don't expect customer service to be any different.

The Surefire X400 laser/light version will be coming out this year. I also read the TLR1/2 will be updated shortly with newer LEDs.

I was debating between the X300 and TLR2, and tested out the TLR2 at Turners. Its not as bright as the X300 but the switch on the TLR2 is easier to operate. Much less force is required to toggle it up and down. The pyrex lens is also easier to clean without scratching then the TLR2

I've had excellent experiences with many many Surefires and Streamlights. Very dependable.

I wanted to trade my X300 for a TLR2 but now hearing about the laser problem I might just upgrade to the X400. The only problem is that it costs almost as much as another gun!
