    Binos for Big Game

What is your favorite size/magnification for deer and/or elk hunting?

    Who uses 8 x 32 or 42, or 10 x 42's?

I use 8x32 Burris roof prism binos. But I wish I had some 10x32 0r 10x42 roof prisms. Where I hunt, I can spot deer out to 800 yards or so, and the higher magnification would be nice. I don't really care for the quality of my binos and have been waiting to have the money to spring for a pair of Steiner Predator 10x32.
No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.

For hunting out west 10x's hard to beat, IMHO.

Most of the guys in our club use 10x, two use 12x (tad too much power for me). 10x42's EL's are my go to binos, backups are 7x42 SLC's. My daughter uses 10x50 Leupold Olympics.

8x with good quality glass. Easier to steady, more light to the pupil, plenty of magnification to see what you're hunting.

10x42 Cabela's Euros. About half the price of Swarovski and I can't tell the difference.

8X42 Zeiss Conquest HD also a set of Pentex 10X small ones. I have owned a bunch of binos over the years(cheaper ones) and the Zeiss are the ones I will always use now. They have been great here in Ca and in Africa. I should be taking them to Wy next year also. I am sure they will be good for pronghorns also.

A buddy always swore that his 8x magnification was plenty until he had to use his 10x magnification hand held video recorder in order to determine if a distant buck was a shooter. Upon his return he purchased a pair of 10x Leica.

I have a set of Bushnell Natureview Plus 8x42mm binoculars and a Burris "Neck Relief" binocular strap harness. I love that combination. I recommend the Bushnell Natureview Plus binoculars. They are a good value. The binoculars are rubber armored so they won't get banged up too badly. They are also waterproof, and they haven't fogged up on me since I've bought them. All in all, I am quite satisfied with them. I am also really pleased with the Burris strap harness. I wear it over my hunting clothes but under my Blackhawk HydraStorm "Tempest". For day hunts, it's the perfect set-up for me. Cheers! --1911ShooterPhil

Compact 10X, any decent quality glasses will suffice. In addition to the neck strap that comes with them I add a strap of stretch fabric to the glasses that goes around my torso at mid-chest. This keeps your glasses pinned to your chest, and you can still "mount" the glasses to your eyes with ease.
