    Scope alin/lapping

Want to have smithy aligned and possibly lap new scope rings, also bore site. these will be QD rings.

So what's a fair cost for this type of work ?

I know many will do them selves, but I just don't want to tool up for this...

    Little help...

Don't waste your money. Read up on how to mount/sight in your optics. Lapping the rings is pointless and boresighting just gets you on paper. You still have to dial your optics in.

Pretty much what they said assuming you get decent base/rings.

        Bore sight yourself.

Bolt action, pull the bolt out and look through the barrel at a spot, and point the scope at that spot.

AR- yank the upper and do the same.

Just put it on already! No tooling up required. Rings will probably come with the tool they need if you bought a decent set. Lapping the rings is for ultimate accuracy and it doesn't sound like your there yet. Step 1 put the bottom half rings on the rifle step 2 set the scope on step 3 top half of the rings on snug but not to tight step 4 shoulder rifle and move scope back and forth to set eye relief step 5 snug rings down step 6 shoot! Adjust elevation and windage as needed. If its a hunting rifle you should zero around 2.5 inches high at 100 yds
