    Scope for Axis .243

I recently got a Axis in .243 and the bushnell "sharpshooter" scope it comes with is absolute garbage. I'm not even confident it will run well on a 22. What scope up to $400 would you recommend for shooting out to 500 yards for basic balloon popping? I'd like something more than your basic duplex reticle if possible. Thx

Nothing wrong with a Duplex. If you want to go cheap but good quality get the American made Redfield scope. A 4X12X40 will do fine or even a 3X9X40.
If you want to upgrade get a Leupold with the same spects.

I have shot to 600 yards with a 3X9X40 but at that range a 4x12X40 would have been better. Be carefull about getting too much power as it will cause you other problems.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
