    Rangefinder

Looking for a good rangefinder to take deer hunting. New to rangefinders so I'm in need of suggestions.
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)"

Leica is awesome and so is the price tag.
Leupold with the TBR will give you great performance as well.

I use a Bushnell Scout myself. its simple, its basic, and it works. 1000 yard max means you can accurately range a deer size target to 700-750 yards. have some demos which are like new in the box for around $275:

I have an older Bushnell 600 yard one but borrowed a Leupold one for my trip to Africa. Much better and smaller.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I checked on this rangefinder and was curious it says...1000 yard range, 300 yards for game. Why only 300 yards for game?

Would love a leupold but I'm sure they are pricey just like they're scopes!

I purchased a Newcon Optik LRM1500SPD on eBay awhile back for like $225. It's rated out to 1500 yards and can switch to a laser speed checker in both mph and kph. Fun to sit and check the speed of vehicles in the neighborhood with.

With rangefinders they always give that maximum number...as if you were to range a big white barn. The smaller the object, the shorter the distance will be to be accurate. Bushnell gives realistic numbers. 300 yards would be for small game, coyote or smaller. Ive used it out to 600 yards on elk myself and its worked flawlessly. Rule of thumb is subtract about 30% off teh top for deer/elk sized animal.

Leupold makes a nice product, great clarity, but they have more functions in their rangefinders than I've ever used. If you like all those features, its a nice unit. for me, its point, click, reading, done.
