I ordered another set of rings now that I stripped the back one. I used a torque wrench to get it to 65 in lbs but I'm pretty sure I went too much cause I stripped the base screw.

I dont use clickers torque wrench on small stuff like scope base and rings...
This is what I use... never had a problem with it.

I've never used a torque wrench on a anything other than heads on a car. Just snug the ring bolts. I hope you sprung for decent rings.
