I know nothing about long range shooting but for hogs go with something with a 3x-4x low end power max. I don't know your experience level and this may be obvious but something like a 6x24 is not a hunting scope for something that you will encounter at close ranges frequently.

      I would get a Leupold VX-6 2-12 x 42, fabulous scope.

Bushnell DMR 3.5-21 with the G2 reticle. Best scope in that price range. Brand new they run $1399 but used you can find them for right around $1200. If you are ever interested send me a PM.

He knows what he's talking about.

He runs that bushy scope on his own rifle. I want one BAD!!!!!!

It's by far the best scope you can get your hands on in that price range.

im building a similar rifle built on a extra long action receiver I had. ive been bouncing back and forth. first for hog hunting, your going to need something 2-4x min.
the above mentioned leupold is a great scope. does your 1200 include mount, rings. also if you don't have it already get a lapping/alignment set. last thing you want to do is ruin a new scope.

This is the route I would go with. I'm currently saving up to get one of these for my Sendero 300 Win Mag. Their 3-12X44 FFP with G2DMR is pretty decent as well, and weighs about 9-10 ounces less than the 3.5-21X50 DMR.

I think this power range is fantastic for hunting in Kali. I like the low end and you don't really need anything beyond 12x for hunting here, the FOV is great too.

This is the same power range I use on my main rifle.
