    Spotting scope tripod suggestions

    Just picked up a Konus 20-60 X 100. Great glass fr the money and I now need a very heavy duty tripod.

    I've seen the heavy, aluminum ones with thick steel upright and think these may be a good choice.

    Any suggestions on brand??

      One of the best purchases I’ve ever made... or any other high quality photography tripod with a head of your choice. I went with a ball head on mine.

      Tripod is very flexible in setup and stout… no problems with magnification shake at 60x in the wind either…

        I don't know if this will help you, but I have a almost new Tripod that I hardly use and I figured I would pass it along to a Calgunner at an amazing price.

        Make/Model: Dolica B100 Proline Tripod. Professional-grade tripod

        Location: Eastbay of San Francisco - Alameda County

        Price: $ 19 !!! That's right $1 less than 20 bucks , plus shipping.

        Will ship: Yes, I will if you add in the shipping cost to the $19 but I would prefer to meet in the East Bay If at all possible.

        info: High quality, has 2 bubble levels and 1 compass built in. Comes with carrying case.

        if you are interested please just send me a private message.

        I'm not sure the picture will transfer in this message so you might have to go to my post to see it.

        it's listed under "WTS East bay SKS ,black powder Pistol, Tripod ."

        (I've been too busy to be bumping it regularly.)

        I will put your name first in line, but if you don't want it that's okay.
        I will then sell it to the first person who says "I will take it "on my post followed by a p.m..

            I'm just pulling images off the web to give you ideas...

            Mine (discontinued) is very similar to what you see in picture examples.. Same thing but the ones in the picture look like a newer model/replacement of what I have.

            Legs = 3021BPRO
            Head = 488RC2

            I think I paid around $280-$300 when I picked it up in my photography days. Most people will say that's a bit steep for a tripod, but its all relative. I was hanging a camera and lens off the thing that that cost substantially more than the tripod itself.

            For the spotting scope, its proven to be worth it as well. The level of stabilization in fantastic. I have a smaller more compact Manfrotto tripod for backpacking which cost about $100, and it just doesn't give the level of stabilization or vibration dampening.

            When using a spotting scope at 60x, a good tripod is the difference between a usable image and a crap ton of magnification skake.

            Then again... if you are using a Barska spotting scope, I cant see jack at 60X anyways...

              Tripod

              Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 or 3021S (Short) if you want all black, 3221/3221S is the same tripod in all black. Bogen/Manfrottohas both conventional and ball heads that take quick release hex plates...try the ballhead with hex plate QR and buy extra plates for your camera. It is solid enough for my film technology Canon F-1 and a 300 f4.0L and motor. should hold ANY spotting scope.

                Local Costco had a nice one a few months ago. Looked and felt pretty sturdy!
