So I just received my new weaver 4-20x50 tactical scope 800360 and find that not only does it not include a sun shade or eye cup, they don't even make them for this scope. Without the sun shade this is going to be one expensive paperweight. Anyone have this scope or ideas to solve this problem?

Weaver tactical scope sunshade

It was difficult just bore sighting the other day. Granted, it was late afternoon, maybe 4:00 and I was facing pretty much southwest. Not exactly ideal. There was so much flare I had to rubber band the warranty card over the objective. All of my scopes have some form of sunshade either built in or added on. This is the first Weaver I've owned and while it is one very nice piece of work, I am very shocked to see that it did not ship with either caps nor a shade even though it is threaded for one. According to the manufacturer, their Super Slam shade fits but that has been discontinued.Comment

If your local shop has Leupold screw-on lens caps, you could check those and compare to the threads on the Weaver. IIRC, Leupold has a 50mm sunshade as well.sigpic

Should fit no problem. You may need to do a little "rattle-can" paint to get it to match.sigpic
