    Vortex monocular

I'm really looking at these 8x36 vs the 10x36. Anybody have one? Maybe I can peek at/through it I like the idea of the ranging reticle very much. Like to hear thoughts on the matter. Read a lot of online reviews seems pretty promising. Thanks

I’m curious about those too… I saw em on the Vortex website a while back but never found one locally in a store.

Solo R/T looks like a decent value

Well Im down south so that might not work! But I have to say these things are great for the price. I built a little mount for it so I can attach it to a tripod. For $120 the glass is great and the reticle is handy to have. The main thing I use them for are at matches when you are trying to find the targets before you are aloud to get behind your rifle. It helps you acquire the target and get a good sight picture before you can get behind the rifle. If your interested in one and the mount just send me a PM.

I have one, love it. Optics are quite crisp and the mil lines are nice to practice milling.

              I carry mine Hiking.

I'm currently using a celestron c 70 as my spotting scope. I'm intrigued about the mount your talking about. Is the image to shaky to use without? Are you using the 10x or the 8x?

For comparison the one I have now, it's pretty bulky to drag around for anything other than bench sessions.

There is only the 8x with the Reticle. Other wise the 10x is a different animal. You cant compare this to a spotting scope. This fits in the palm of your hand, its vary compact. I only use the mount for when I need a compact spotter when I'm at the range. Here is what it looks like. The mount is not perfect but it works for my Tripod.

Are you using the Solo R/T or the Recon R/T?

I know we have had discussions on Vortex glass in the past, how does it compare or various Vortex model scopes or SWFA glass?

I'm not suggesting it as a replacement for my celestron but as an easier to carry day to day optic. The range finding is just so darn useful. I was worried that the amount of shake was to much that a tripod would be required. Some reviews mentioned the 10x would be very shakey.

I have a pair of 10x binoculars and I find that to be a comfortable magnification for handheld use.

I'm using the one that focuses the reticle separate from the image... forget which.

The glass is good but i've not compared it to my scopes... hmm perhaps when my scope levels come in and i'm setting them up, i'll do a comparison.
