    Fenix T1 vs Pentagon L2

Both seem to be about $70 at the cheapest places online.

The T1 seems to be a tougher flashlight with proven submersion capabilities and a more hardened body. It also has longer battery life and a much brighter 225 lumens in "turbo" mode.

By comparison, the L2 seems a bit undergunned at 85 lumens. It does have an easily removable clip though while the T1 seems like you have to pry it off which sucks. It's also a nicer looking more high end looking light with a Type III finish vs the Type II finish on the T1.

Are the lumens being measured at the same point?

    How waterproof is the L2?

    Which would you choose?

fenix came out with a newer version of the t1 called the tk10. basically same light with few improvements. check out candlepowerforums.com for a wealth of knowledge on flashlights.

Wow the TK10 has everything I was looking for, removable clip, comes in black, and Type III finish.

Just an FYI... the T1 is a Type III

The olive is a nicer finish, IMHO.

HANDS DOWN the Fenix is the better light. The only advantage of the pentagon is the name (and maybe weight).

            surefire shot show linky:

It's gonna be a great year for Surefire; tons of exciting, well conceived products. Here's a quick report. Surefire, Cree, SSC threw a great party and I think it's fair to say everyone had a lot of fun and left with some fantastic gifts. My thanks to all of those companies, to our host PK, to...

Is Pentagon planning to release some new lights or are there upgrades available for the Pentagon L2 LED?

My brain says Fenix TK10 but my aesthetics say Pentagon...

That Insight H2X looks like an awesome light with a 400 hour possible battery life and strobe effect but at $133, I think a bit more than I want to spend.

This seems to be the best price online for the TK10, free shipping

you can also get it at fenix-store.com and use the candlepowerforums coupon (cp8) for extra 5% discount and free shipping.
not sure about pentagonlight as they were pretty quiet at shotshow. insight probably is referring to the dimmest light level for the 400 hours. i'm going to hold off buying any lights until later this year as better emitters are being used in flashlights. the cree q5 is top dog right now, but the seoul p7 and cree r2 are slowing showing up in lights.

Thanks, you're quite a helpful bag of potatoes.

I think I will order the TK10 and a Pentagon L2, I can't decide so I'll get both. Maybe I'll return one but I do have two ARs that both need lights so this seems to best solution.

I'll order it from Fenix and use that coupon code. How good is their customer service? It seems if you order from their own store, it's a lifetime warranty.

um, not sure about the lifetime warranty part. i could be wrong. david from fenix store is very helpful on candlepowerforums. i would say if you could wait a little longer as new led emitters are coming out every few months. it's hard to keep up unless you just like buying flashlights.

I think that's what it says on the Fenix Store warranty page.

How much better are these LEDs?

How old is the TK10, is there going to be a new model already?

didn't see the 5% in my cart, does say free shipping though but that's standard.

i'm unsure of the coupon code right now because their marketplace is currently under maintenance. try cpf8 and see if that works.

the cree q5 emitters are the standard right now. the cree r2 emitters are just hitting the market in limited quantities as well as the seoul p7. every quarter it seems that there's a new version coming out. the tk10 just came out a few weeks ago and is an update of the t 1. it's kind of like computers, as soon as you buy one, something better is already in the pipeline. i guess it will reach a point where people will say it's "bright enough" for their needs. i'm not one of them. i'm waiting for surefire to release their new lights (invictus, optimus, millenium weapon light led upgrades). right now, i'm just upgrading my other lights (malkoff maglite dropin, surfire g2 p60 dropins) to hold me over.
