bore sight

anybody in the sacramento area have a bore sight for 223/5.56 nato i might be able to borrow or rent to me for an hour or so? getting a new scope and want to get it ready for the range. this is for a oll ar. thanks

You can boresight an AR without any special gear.

Remove the upper, remove the B/C/CH, prop it up on something solid, and point it at something easy to spot:


Sight down the barrel and center it on your target:


Adjust the scope so it's centered on your target:


Go back and forth a few times to check you haven't shifted, and this will get you on the paper.

This works best at 50 yards, but if you don't have that, it's still close. To get closer, you can have 2 targets on a piece of paper - one for the barrel, one for the scope. Make one 2.5" higher than the other, and sight in as above, using the top target for the scope and the bottom target for the barrel.
