Optic Problem-Need help before next weekends Long Range

    Hi,
I'm heading to the 600 yard matches next Sunday at Sac Valley and tried sighting in my AR today at 300 yards. I've got a Bushnell 5-15x40 Tactical from Midway. I've shot it before at 100 and never had problems however today I noticed for the first time that I could not get both the reticle AND target to be clear. At 300, I'd crank the eyepiece to get a clear view, but then the reticle would go fairly blurry, not crisp at all. My vision is pretty good, not perfect 20/20 but pretty good and only a very very light prescription for long distance. Anyway, what's causing my issue? SHouldn't this stupid thing be able to have a clear reticle and clear target at 15x?? I mean, I know it's an "affordable" scope but what's the deal? admittedly, I'm in a rush so didn't spend all day searching. Any ideas?

The eye piece adjusts the Diopter. Look at a white wall or up at the sky and turn it until the reticle is in focus. Once that is set, dont touch it.
The Objective adjusts the parallax/focus. Use that to focus on your target.
If you have this out of whack, your eye will decide which one it wants to focus on or you will have to strain to focus on one or the other

Yeah guys, thanks and I've done this at the range. Obj set to infinity for 300 yards, dialed in the Diopter, and cross-hairs not sharp. So, what can cause a scope to not be able to have sharp cross-hairs at the same time as having the target in focus?
