    Eotech identification and authentication

    I am about to buy an eotech. The seller says it is a 516A5 but i have a feeling that it is a 553. I am almost positive it is authentic but any insight to the contrary is much appreciated. I will attach photos of the actual unit and of known real examples. The first two pictures are of the actual sight, the second two are of representations of an eotech 553.

    On the first and third photos, the similarities are as follows;
    1) the top two screws on the controller are flat headed,
    2) the bottom two screws are round headed,
    3) the location of the wording "off" in the center and "on" lower and slightly to the right.
    4) the fuzzyness of the reticle.

    On the second and fourth photos, the similarities are as follows;
    1) the two ARMS throw levers.
    2) the laser etched "e3 logo" and "law and military use" wording
    3) size and proportion
    4) torx headed cover screw

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    EOTech's pdf on identifying counterfeit optics here:

    I would ask for the serial number, and call EOTech at 734-572-2203.

    If the seller isn't willing to provide it, I would pass.

        Yep, 553 model, dual ARMS lever gives it away. The 516 has a cutout in front so it can hang over the handguard also.
