Need help picking an optic for a Marlin Camp 9

Hi, just got my camp 9 all cleaned up, new strut and bridge, new recoil spring and buffer, have yet to mount the weaver type rail on top.

Now for an optic, would love to gain some insight.

Thought about putting on a simple red dot but am also considering the benefits of a bit of magnification for my maturing eyes

Check out the Weaver V3. Its a 1-3x20mm scope where the 1x really is 1x. I've used one a 45-70 lever of mine and it worked like a charm. Its perfect for close up little pop shots and then walking it out a little. Would be a nice match for you Camp 9:
