    Lost- which base and rings?

I am new to precision shooting. I bought a Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD in .308 2 months ago and still havent done anything to it. I am going to buy the SWFA SS 10x42, but i have zero idea which base and rings to get. I want something solid that will hold up, but i want it all to fit right. Any ideas? Thanks guys and heres a link to my scope

Seekins Precision base and 30mm Seekins scope rings or Seekins base + 30mm TSR rings made by TPS.

If your on a budget I would go with an EGW 20 moa Base and Burris low Tactical Rings.

I have badger ordnance and have had no issues. Any of the above options will work just fine.

Second on what Iloveguns suggested. The EGWs can be had in aluminum or steel. At least when I ordered them a couple months back.Ken Ferrells are real nice, but these days,I can not afford them on any more of my guns.
Need to warn you though. If you buy the extended mount 20MOA,the low rings may let the larger bell scopes contact the mount up front. My bad experiance.I cut the extension off,not needing it anyway.I was mounting a Leupold 8.5-25x50.

Ferrells are a lot higher then most other bases on the market. I would stick with the Seekins or Badger base before the Ferrell. But all three are top notch.

If you are buying a swfa ss you are likely on a budget. I used to use leupold std two piece bases with warne qd rings to shoot 200-1000 yd longrange. Even transported the scope off the rifle. I have TPS rings now, I mean really..you can only hold a scope so straight. I just don't buy into some of these over priced ring and base sets and the hype. Save a few bucks on the rings and spend it on ammo and practice. Just a thought.

I went with the TPS base and rings. Most likely you will have to bed the base. At lease for my Remington 700 tactical I HAD to.

what about the height of the rings? How should I know which to choose?
