    front focal plane scope

looking for one to put on my savage .308 ..whats a good , inexpensive FRONT focal plane scope I can get? I found one made by primary arms for 225... it got great reviews... but 225 seems like too good of a deal, there must be a catch.. any suggestions?

Its good to go we don't feel its right to over price items. I have been testing one for a while, it has never lost 0 and tracks true.

If this is just a Range Rifle and not a hunting rifle, I would also suggest a fixed 10x.

          SWFA 3-9x42mm

Comparable to my Nightforce compact in image quality and tracking.

I will simply say that China is hit and miss with quality at best and even the best of stuff that I've had that was made in PRC has been best left in PRC. If you get a good one, it'll be good but it won't be great.

You can have a nice FFP scope from Vortex for under 1000 bucks.

Have you considered fixed power? For 250 bucks (tops) you can get a fixed 10x Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x40 Mil-Dot with reset-able turrets. That is the best scope I've owned for the money. Yeah, I've got more expensive scopes that are a tiny bit better but nothing near as great a value. No variable power means no BS with FFP being necessary. Subtends are always accurate in a fixed power scope. 10x is enough for 1000yrds.
We carry Vortex and other brands its funny you say that,we are known for mid level reliability did something happen to an item you bought from us? If so let us know we will make it right.

The catch is I spec out and source from some of the same factories as the big name companies. We have lower overhead and sell mostly direct to the end user so the markup is less. Our target for this scope was a competitors $499 scope. Still a modestly price FFP. It is an entry level FFP. We sell Nightforce, Schmidt and Bender, Trijicon and Vortex to name a few so I get there are way better products out there if the budget allows.

So who is it for? Someone that is really not sure that they want or need FFP. A variable FFP scope is just the best solution for some applications but not all. Someone that knows they want FFP and does not want to wait to save up or just flat will never be able to justify $1K+ plus on a scope. Many of our PA brand customs own or will buy one or more high end optics from us as well. They just move the PA brand to another gun.

PS: We have the 10X Bushnell Elite that the previous post mentioned on sale right now for $199 with a free mount. It is a good value if you decide against FFP.

I got the Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP ... After having bought a red dot from primary arms which has served me well, I have faith that this scope will work great on my .308.

I have to say though, the SWFA fixed 10x42 looked sharp.

I have the PA FFP. I compared it to my buddy's leopold (not a FFP mind you) and the optics was much clearer on the PA.
