Which 15" Rail for 20" BCM Stainless N/M Barrel AR build.

Looking for a free float for a 20" BCM Stainless N/M Barrel with rifle lengfth gas.

This will probably really just end up being a heavy Bench AR, since the barrel itself is heavy, but that does not mean I want to make things even heavier if it can be helped.

You will need to buy a spacer of some kind to shim it to align the rails if needed.

The troy rail holes have sharp edges. JP makes a newer model 15 rail and I have one. Great rail.

I like the Troy, but went with Midwest Industries AR gen 2 cause I like how you don't have to remove the rail every time you want to add accessory rails.

Yea that JP one is nice, is the new version better though? I liked the texture on the old rail, but the ability to not use backing plates is nice so long as those threads hold up(since they are part of the tube itself now?)

How about the way it mount to the barrel nut? is that better?

I'm also looking at the JD rail now, but I'll probably end up with one of those at a later date anyways for a 308 ar, so i figure I may as well go another route for this one.

What do you guys think about the older JP Handguard? It's $25 less and I like the style.

Only things pushing me to the newer version is that the old one is available for a 308 AR (And I have a build for one of those starting up as well so i could try them both later), and it does not have the quick attach rails that I probably won't need anyways. It does seem to have a nicer texture and more custom look to it though. I believe it's 4oz heavier in the extended length, but with my pricing it's also about $25 less than the rapid configuration one.

Love my MI SS gen2 rail. Weighs almost nothing and the customer service is great.

Ended up gettign the JP Rapid Configuration Hand guard. It has an interesting mechanism for attaching to the upper which I think is superior to anything that clamps with a couple screws.

It's REALLY light compared to my Omega rails when are smaller. The only tricky part was aligning the tube with the uppers rails since it is round and I did not purchase the full length rail for the top of it. I ended up just trying to line up the holes in the tube, witht he gas tube and gas block.
