    Need help With Scope.

I just attended my first FTR 500 yard shoot last Sat. During the practice session I had my 100 yard zero added my 12MOA to my scope and took my shot. Now there was a 5 deg incline and and 10mph left to right wind. I sent my round down range. I immediately heard that I needed to come up 5MOA so I gave it 5MOA and shot. My next shot goes down range and I hear the guy on the radio say 5 more MOA. At this point I maybe got 3 more MOA out of my scope. So another shot and im still 30+ inches low from center. My question is there something wrong with my scope? I would think I should have been on paper with the first 49.9 clicks I gave it or 12 MOA. I ended up doing a hold over with my Mills using the third mill dot on my scope and hitting 8,9 and 10. Can anyone give me direction.

    Scope: Hawke Sidewinder 30
    4x16x50
MOA 60 Total - 30 up and maybe 30 down depending on how much i used to get zero.

      Good question Not yet .
      Im reloading with 8208 XBR 41.5 and a 168 Grn SMK C.O.L 2.82
      Scope height 1.50

My guess is its coming out around 2400FPS Maybe lower due to the shorter barrel.

        Whats the BC?
        Your Altitude?
        The spotter called 5 MOA?
        36.75" off! Weird ?
        Your 0 at 100 yards?

That's pretty slow for a 168gr bullet, even out of a shorter barrel

I'd put money on your scope not tracking properly, or the clicks on it are actually 1/8 moa, not 1/4 moa.

Found out the problem went to take the scope out for the return and the rings that were tighten by bass pro shop were totally lose. Wonder how long that went on for.

Good news is I'm starting from scratch the scope will stay its a great scope no complaints even if it had to go back customer service was great. I'm getting a EGW 15MOA base and new rings.

Thanks for the input guys. Oh yeah I'm also getting a crono too.

Use blue lock tight and not a lot.
Get the chrono and PM with your data and I can help you with a range card.

PS be sure to have a 15 rounds in plastic bag inside another bag full of ice.
Get data on a warm day and simulated cold in order to create a proper range card.

Now go box test your scope and find out how much travel it really has.
Its typically about 5 moa to get a 100yd zero.

Work on the gun yourself whenever you can. You can't trust most gunsmith, let alone the guy at bass pro. Always isntall scopes yourself, its easy. I bet the idiot at bass pro also did not have you get in your shooting position and determine eye relief for you either...
