I have a TLR-2 on my XD 45, it fits the 4'' and 5'' models. Probably have around 1000 down the pipe with it and havent had any issues and the laser has stayed sighted it as long as I dont remove it from the rail. Been very happy with it and it doesnt cost an arm and a leg:

Insight WX150 with Crimson Trace grips... I use that on M&P .45 and love it...

For an all-in-one unit, I've considered iTac WLL1 http://itacdefense.com/ShowProductDe...&CategoryID=40 which is exactly the same as the Sig STL900L http://www.sigsauer.com/SigStore/stl...laser-285.aspx (rebranded Insight light)

The WLL1 can be found at decent price online... I think I found on Ebay or Amazon for $160ish a while back...

I'm doing research for the same thing (was looking at the TLR-4), and I was wondering: are there any legal ramifications for having a laser site on a HD gun?

+1 for the Streamlight TLR. Aluminum build... easy toggle... you just get a good amount of bang for your buck.

I have an XD Tactical 5", I use the Crimson Trace LG-445 Laser

              and a TLR-1:

The Crimson Trace activates when you grasp the grip firmly. In a self defense situation, fine motor skills (like pushing a tiny button) deteriorate quickly. Gross motor skills (like grasping your gun) still function. I also like the way the Crimson Trace laser gives the XD grip a little more hand-friendly shape.

If you decide to carry in the daytime, you can ditch the light, and still have a laser, and the combination will likely work with just about any existing holster you have.

If you are unfortunate enough to have the batteries crap out, you don't lose both the light and the laser. When the Next Big Thing comes out in either lights or lasers, you can upgrade one or the other without having to do both at once. You can move the light between firearms and leave the laser on the XD, sighted in.

What can I say? I'm a component stereo guy. I like separate equipment.

              Just a thought.

I have a TLR-2 on my Kimber warrior and FNP-45. Works great. I really dont see the need for the laser, and Have started to go to the TLR-1 on my M&P's but if a laser is a must have I would highly recommend the TLR-2
