My Aimpoint PRO arrived the other day, at $370.00 I think it is the best deal on the market for a high end sight. Other than installing the battery is was ready to mount. I co-witnessed the red dot to the iron sights that came with my MP-15 Sport and headed to the Firing Line to try it out with a CMMG 22lr conversion. It only took a few minor adjustments to fine tune the POI. I have not had a chance to get out to Angles to shoot 223/5.56 and am curious to see where the gun will shoot 22lr once it is sighted in for 223/5.56 at 100 meters.

      Cheers,
      W-W

If you want to have some fun, take a small light and shine it through the objective lens with the unit on. You really see how simple the construction is. Amazing that something so simple to the eye is as tough as it comes.

          Sorry to thread jack.

I'm considering getting a red dot and looking between the Aimpoint PRO, the 9000 and the CompC3. They're all priced in the same range..around $400 +/-. So what are the major differences between them and would you recommend one over the other? I haven't played much with AR's and red dots so I don't know much about them...

          Thanks!

The 9000 is a longer sight that has made its name in the hunting crowd. Longer body allows it to be more versatile for two piece mounts on long or short actions. The Comp series is the bread and butter of Aimpoint, but they wanted to come out with an AR dedicated sight thats is ready to go with appropriate mounts and have it at a good price, so they released the PRO. Still has the same rugged quality but the specs arent quite like that of the COMPM4. If you need more info, send me a PM.

              the 9000 is cheapest (350 shipped) http://www.slickguns.com/product/aim...-free-shipping

the Pro was available from Midway for $365 shipped (with coupon), but they are out of stock - keep an eye out, they might get more before the coupon expires... I picked one up from Officerstore.com for 360 shipped (but that expired)... however, Officerstore now has it in stock for $365 shipped (use code: "ECSP10" http://www.officerstore.com/store/product.cfm?pID=8501

another thing is the Pro comes with a mount. the others, unless you find a package deal, will either come with a non-quick-release mount, or no mount at all. My comp c3 came with a lower mount, and well, needed to chuck that to get a decent co-witnessing-re-zeroing mount.

and the mount is awesome!!! I like 'em so much I have three (but only one Aimpoint - I use the others for Strikefires).

I have (and have used) ADM, LaRue, Burris, ARMS and Sun, and no name generic - the Aimpoint QRP2 is my favorite - riser for AR, no riser for AK (prefect height on both).
