That’s a respectable budget, so you have options…

Have you considered low power variables like 1-4x, 1-6x 1-8x type scopes? (Vortex, SWFA, USO)

ACOG would be another worthy choice. (TA11)

Scope plus offset RDS is also another option. 2.5-10x of your choice + Aimpoint

For a .308 carbine, I'd strongly suggest a TA11. You'll be easily hitting man sized or smaller targets from 25-600 yards+.

I hit anything from 100y groups to 6" swinging plates at 400y to 600y man sized plates with my TA11 + SDM-R.

THE TRIJICON SAYS THE TA11 IS FOR A 223 DOES THAT MAKE DIFFERENCE OR WILL IT WORK ON A 308 ALSO SORRY ABOUT THE QUESTIONS BUT I'M NEW TO SHOOTING PAST 300 YARDS. WHO MAKES A SCOPE PLUS OFFSET RDS

          Caps lock dude…

Look harder, there are 308 specific models.

Both are calibrated to a specific cartridge load.

0-600 yards pretty much SCREAMS 1-(blank)x variable. With your budget, you should be able to get a pretty awesome one.

I'd hold off a bit and wait for the new Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-8.5X that should be coming out soon. It looks like it will be a lighter and more compact branch off from the 3.5-21x50HDMR scope. Bushnell has been stuffing some great reticle designs into their scopes lately, this one should be worth waiting for.

Any more information on this potential gem because? I couldn’t find much searching.

                  scroll forward to about 22:26

Oddly, this is all I can find now. when I looked a few days ago, I got hits from Opticstalk and Snipershide as well as a bunch of pics on Google images. It's like they scrubbed the interwebs of this thing.....

Any thoughts on the leupold mark 4 HAMR. what is the max effective range on the HAMR ? Will it reach out to 600 yards ?

I got to look through a Leupold 1.5-4x Mark AR scope last night. I'm in love (and will probably get something like that instead of an EOTech now)! You can use it with both eyes open at low magnification, just like a red dot, and get some zoom when you need it. Another vote for a 1-[4, 6, whatever]x variable scope!

Yeah it can be done but its better from 25-400. 600 is a stretch with great young eyes. In low light its near impossible! For 600 I would want a 1x-8x or more.

                            650 yds
